Foundation School ready for BSSAC thanks to BHL

March 22, 2017

THE CHRIST CHURCH FOUNDATION SCHOOL recently received two outstanding new tents from beverage manufacturing group Banks Holdings Ltd. (BHL) just in time for the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Athletics Championships (BSSAC).

The tents, 20 feet long by 20 feet wide in size, were donated under BHL’s corporate social responsibility programme H.E.L.P. (Heritage, Environment, Learning and People) under its Learning pillar.

The presentation occurred on the school’s grounds and was attended by students and senior members of staff. BHL’s Manager, Corporate Affairs, Sophia Cambridge facilitated the handover and noted that BHL is pleased to assist in building the Foundation School brand.

“We at BHL are extremely pleased to be in a position to formally hand over the branded tents before the BSSAC championships begin in earnest,” she said. “The Foundation School will be taking part in the semifinals soon and therefore on behalf of the management and staff of BHL, we wish the school the very best in the championships and hope that they enjoy the tents for many more years to come.”

Over 100 athletes and officials from the school will find shade under the tents during BSSAC. The tents are emblazoned in the school’s colours of yellow and black and feature the school’s crest and motto. Principal Edward Cumberbatch said the unique branding will lend to the students’ school pride during competition.

“I cannot thank BHL enough for this gift of branded tents. Every year for different activities not just Inter-School sports, we require a tent to house athletes or supporters and now we do not have to hunt around. These tents speak to our brand loud and clear. When we compete this year, these tents will make a worthy addition. The branding will also help to uplift the spirit of the school.”

His sentiments were shared by Head of the Sports Department Mr. Seibert Straughn who also expressed gratitude on behalf of the Department and its athletes.

“A massive Foundation thank you to Banks Holdings Ltd.  History would show that Foundation was the first school to place tents at BSSAC during the 90s. We are quite certain that when these tents are erected, they will make an impact. We are proud to be the owners of them.”

He also spoke to the Foundation team’s unwavering commitment to ensure their readiness for BSSAC 2017 as they seek to defend the Girls’ championship title.

“We have put in a lot of hard work which started from last year. We are quietly confident that we will make not only BHL proud, but our old scholars and the entire Christ Church area. We are looking to “take care of business” at this year’s BSSAC and will finish in an even better position than we did in 2016.”

Under the Learning component of the BHL H.E.L.P. Programme, schools Grantley Prescod Memorial Primary, Parkinson Memorial Secondary and the Vauxhall Primary are also recipients.
